TEHRAN 80 years after the construction of a grand mosque in southern Paris another grand mosque will be built in a populous area of the French capital.

The mayor of Paris has approved plans to construct the second mosque in the French capital, his office said on Wednesday.

The Ad-Dawa Mosque will be built in northeast Paris.

The Muslim community had been trying to get permission for the project for some 10 years.

Paris has one purpose-built mosque, built in 1920. All other mosques in the city were made from existing buildings. Muslims use other buildings in Paris as places of worship.
